The OLG microsite was built to support a Banner Corporation campaign to communicate the value of online lead generation to an audience that had visited the Baptie Marketing Focus Europe event. To read more about the campaign please click here.
The microsite was designed to educate users as to the value of online lead generation and promote the Banner Corporation as experts in the field. Users have the option to:
- View how OLG could benefit your organization
- Request more information (campaign collateral)
- Send to a friend
The overall design needed to tie into the campaign theme: Squeeze more out of the web. I decided to storyboard the presentation to include a cooking show-type approach, whereby the chef (who's face you never see) uses fruit in a data vs. lead generation analogy. The entire movie leads up to the chef preparing a fruit tart. As he slices the pieces away a logo appears. The logo is dynamic - meaning that the logo of the company that the link was sent to would appear.
The audio greeting file that plays once the movie begins is also dynamic, as the chef greats you by name. If your name is not present in the DB (should you forward to a friend), then a generic audio greeting is played.
The movie took 2 days to film and included dozens of different types of fruit. I wanted as few cuts in the film as possible, which meant many hours of re-takes as the chef performed magic-like tricks with the fruit on the kitchen counter top.
Thanks to hours of scripting, storyboarding and a patient film crew - the production proved successful.
The audio recording took another 2 days, as the voice over was recorded by the company MD. The most difficult task being having to record the 800 customer names for the variable audio feature.
Many thanks to John Dalziel (flash developer) who spent countless late nights building the microsite and Anthony Galvin who made sure that all typography within the movie met my ridiculous demands. A testament to your patience :
I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project, watching it materialize from my original storyboards has prompted me to pursue more online video productions.
